On a secluded, sandy stretch of land in East Texas, about three hours from Dallas and Houston, Wild Spring Dunes will become the newest addition to Dream Golf’s portfolio of golf resort destinations that includes Bandon Dunes, Oregon ), Sand Valley (Wisconsin) and, soon, Rodeo Dunes (Colorado).
Michael and Chris Keizer, the sons of Bandon Dunes developer Mike Keiser, have acquired a spectacular 2,400-acre site for the brand’s expansion in Texas and have roadmap plans for two 18-hole courses, one by Tom Doak and the other by team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. There will also be a short course, practice facility, clubhouse and guest cabins on site.
Doak, which has five designs among the top 100 U.S. courses ranked by Golf Digest, has completed a course at Wild Spring Dunes and construction will soon begin. The Coore-Crenshaw course will follow.
The Wild Spring Dunes site features four distinct and diverse ecosystems: a forested section with towering pine trees, grassy meadows, hills and ravines carved by the spring-fed creeks from which the property gets its name. The website for the new Dream Golf resort suggests the landscape has hints of Pine Valley, Pinehurst and Shoreacres, three of the game’s top destinations.
“I would never have imagined this type of property in Texas,” Michael Keizer said. “The pine forests. The steep ravines. The large hills that surround it. “You walk around the site, which is always changing, and you can see golf holes everywhere.”
There are four different ecosystems on the Wild Spring Dunes property: hardwood forests, grassy prairies, rolling hills, and ravines carved by spring-fed streams.

Like the Keizers’ other properties, Wild Spring Dunes will be a public resort with world-class golf and guest accommodations.
Like Sand Valley, Michael and Chris Keizer’s property continues to grow in central Wisconsin; There will also be a terrain component away from the fields themselves. And like Sand Valley, there is a founding program, with founding membership available for a $65,000 refundable deposit. Benefits include pre-game play, preferred selection for real estate launches, special property and course tours during the construction phase, and access to exclusive tee times, lodging, tournaments and other events.
The closest airport is Shreveport Regional, which is just over 70 miles away, while the property is within a day’s drive of metropolitan areas in neighboring states such as Oklahoma City, Tulsa, St. Louis, Little Rock, Memphis, Birmingham, Jackson and New Orleans.
Dream Golf last year unveiled its plans for the Rodeo Dunes property less than an hour from Denver International Airport. The vision is to have up to six courses on that property, which like Wild Spring Dunes exceeds 2,000 acres. At least initially, the plan at Wild Spring Dunes is for two courses, but Bandon Dunes and Sand Valley also started smaller before expanding to seven and five courses, respectively.
