professional golfer Scotty Scheffler has finished his Charles Schwab Challenge campaign tied for second place.
The athlete, who was arrested the morning of the PGA Championship and faces trial on Monday, June 3, was beaten by David Riley on Sunday, May 26 at the Colonial Country Club event in Dallas, Texas.
Scheffler, who entered the tournament ranked No. 1 and shot 1-over 71 in the final round, was defeated by five strokes. The final result was compared by his fellow competitor, Keegan Bradley.
While Scheffler was focused on the tournament, he did comment on the PGA Tour golfer’s death. Grayson Murraywho committed suicide on Saturday, May 25.

“Obviously the news hasn’t sunk in yet, but I’m thinking about his family and praying a lot for all of them,” Scheffler said Saturday, as reported by The Keynote USA. “I’ve gotten to know Grayson a little better over the last six months. There is really no way to put into words how sad and tragic he is.”
The tournament result caps a tense week for Scheffler, 27, who was arrested by Louisville Metro Police on Friday, May 17.
An accident involving a struck pedestrian that day led to local authorities stopping the road in front of the Valhalla Golf Club.
According to a police report obtained by Keynote USA, Scheffler was attempting to visit the site for the second round of the PGA Championship tournament as Detective Bryan Gillis was directing traffic following the death of an unnamed man who was hit by a bus.

Gillis stopped Scheffler and attempted to give the athlete instructions. Scheffler “refused to comply and accelerated,” allegedly dragging Gillis to the ground.
Scheffler was handcuffed and taken to the local police station. He was subsequently released in time to return for the next round of the tournament.
The charges against the golfer have not been dropped.

We want to move forward (and) Mr. Scheffler has made it clear that he wants to move forward and I know everyone else involved in LMPD wants to move forward,” Greenberg said.

He added: “LMPD must focus on reducing the amount of violent crime in our city, reducing the amount of gun violence, protecting and keeping people safe (and) that’s what they do every day. That’s what they’ve done since last Friday when they were doing detail work at Valhalla and on Shelbyville Road and that’s what they’ll continue to do.”
Scheffler was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and ignoring traffic signs at the Kentucky police station.
He was eventually released and arrived at the tournament for his tee time.
Scheffler addressed the incident during a press conference on Friday, May 17.
“I feel like my head is still spinning. “I really can’t explain what happened this morning,” she said. “I spent some time stretching in a jail cell. That was the first time for me. That was part of my warm-up. “I was sitting there waiting and started doing my warm-up, and I felt like there was a chance I could still come out here and play.”
