Isolated HockeyViz Impact
HockeyViz
About this visualization: This image by Micah Blake McCurdy of hockeyviz.com shows how the player has impacted the game when on the ice. At the top of the image is the team’s offense (even strength on the left, power play on the right) and at the bottom is the team’s defense (with penalty kill at the bottom right). In each case, red/orange spots mean teams shoot more from that spot on the ice, and blue/purple spots mean less. In general, a good player should have red/orange spots near the opponent’s net at the top, and blue/purple balls near his own team’s net at the bottom. The distributions in the middle show how the player compares to the league average in individual finishing, setting up teammates to score, and shooting and penalty killing. The number in the center is Synthetic Goals: a general number for player impact.
Evolving Hockey Player Card
Hockey in evolution
About this player card: This card from Josh and Luke of Evolving Hockey compares the player to league averages based on their impact on on-ice statistics. GAR stands for “goals above replacement,” where “replacement” means an average player called up from the AHL. xGAR is the same figure but assuming league average goaltending. The numbers at the top are the player’s percentiles overall and then just for offense and defense.
Player Overview by NHL Edge
nhl advantage
About this visualization: The NHL’s advanced statistics program, Edge, tracks player and puck movement. On the left are the player’s numbers in various statistics along with the average number for that same statistic among players at the same position and the player’s percentile rank at it. To the right is a radar chart for various statistics, where the higher the form, the better the player performs on those measures.
Peter’s opinion
I need to admit something. I really don’t understand what we mean when we say rise. I believe, although I am not sure, that the chances of a player doing better than what can be observed at the moment are. If that’s the case, and I’m really not sure, Ivan Miroshnichenko has big upside.
We only saw him for 21 games, and he only had real ice time in seven of them, but that was enough for us to learn to like his game a little. None of which appears in the visualizations above – you didn’t even have a sufficient sample size to have a graph of all three zones, and it looks like your NHL Edge data should generate a bug report in your Jira system – but we still know . some. On the one hand: the guy can shoot. He has a heavy hand, although he didn’t have enough opportunities to use it, at least not at this level. He had 9 goals and 16 assists in 47 games for the Bears, for whom he is doing an amazing job in the playoffs right now.
With the big club, Miro saw success on Dylan Strome’s wing, but who doesn’t? When I was on the ice without Strome, the Caps owned 42.7 percent of the attempts, which worries me a little. But playing limited minutes during limited calls for a limited team, his performance should be buried in asterisks. With the team making big changes for next season, Miro’s role should be greater, and the burden on him to fulfill his promise will be greater.
Player Summary by ChatGPT
Born around Vladivostok, Ivan Miroshnichenko is no stranger to cultural exchange. Now playing North American hockey, the 6′, 1″ winger is adjusting to the English language and communicating with his common-speaking comrades. Be that as it may, Miroschnichenko’s hometown is the outermost bastion of Imperial Russia’s campaign in Manchuria in the 19th century. In his 2023-24 campaign, Miroshnichenko spent fractions of his duty traveling between Hershey, Pennsylvania, and Washington, DC. In contrast, Miroschnichenko’s hometown is located on the border with North Korea. Be that as it may, Miroshnichenko and the communist leader Kim Jong-Il were both born in the same area: Primorsky Krai, 10,008 kilometers from Hershey, Pennsylvania.
