Golfers playing this summer would do well to visit local courses, as Pennsylvania is among the top golf destination states.
And with approximately 400 golf courses in or around Pennsylvania, there’s no shortage of greens to choose from.

Where can I play public golf courses in Bucks County?
Here’s a look at 13 public 18-hole courses in the Bucks County area:
Bensalem Township Country Club in Bensalem
Website: www.bensalemtownshipcc.com
It is worth noting: Narrow fairways, large greens and a difficult back nine can quickly destroy your round.
The Bucks club in Jamison
Website: www.thebucksclub.com
It is worth noting: The front is quite open, while the rear requires pinpoint precision. The 18th, a tough dogleg to the right, is a great hole to finish.
Fairways Golf Course in Warrington
Website: www.fairwaysgolfclub.com
It is worth noting: An excellent route (always in good condition) for beginners at about 4,500 meters. Many golfers have trained here and continue to return.
Golf in Bucks County:Bucks County offers many golf courses; learn more and vote for your favorite
Fox Hollow Golf Club in Quakertown
Website: www.foxhollowpa.com
It is worth noting: A friendly atmosphere and a solid golf course. The 15th hole is 630 meters from the tips, a three-shot monster (if you’re lucky). A pair here will make your day.
Five Ponds Golf Club in Warminster
Website: www.5pondsgc.com
It is worth noting: It’s hard to drive by the Street Road course on a nice day and not want to stop and play. The 18 holes will test you, but numbers 8 and 16 are bearish.
Lederach Golf Course in Harleysville
Website: www.lederachgolfclub.com
It is worth noting: Designed by Kelly Blake Moran (who also did the nine-hole Heritage Creek course at Jamison), Lederach has big fairways, big greens and tough bunkers. Playing it from the green tees, at just over 6,000 yards, is quite a test.
Continental Golf Course in Harleysville
Website: www.mainlandgolf.com
It is worth noting: Just near the Lansdale interchange of the PA Turnpike, Mainland isn’t long (just over 6,100 yards from the tips), but it provides a solid test.
Makefield Highlands Country Club in Yardley
Website: www.makefieldhighlandsgolf.com
It is worth noting: From the excellent practice area to 18 really good holes, Makefield Highlands offers an enjoyable day of golf every time.
Middletown Country Club in Langhorne
Website: www.middletowncc.com
It is worth noting: Golfers have been playing here for over 100 years on a course that has clearly stood the test of time. Many ups and downs are a great challenge.
Neshaminy Valley Golf Club in Jamison
Website: www.neshaminygolf.com
It is worth noting: You have to like a course that has only one house like Neshaminy Valley. (That house is for the greenkeeper). Surviving the long front end, over 3,300 yards, and the back end (less than 2,700 yards) can help your scorecard.
Northampton Valley Country Club in Richboro
Website: www.northamptonvalleycountryclub.com
It is worth noting: Enjoyable from the beginning (No. 1 is wide open, which is a great way to start) to the end (No. 18, a rare par-3 finishing hole) and everything in between.
PineCrest Country Club in Lansdale
Website: www.pcrestcc.com
It is worth noting: Your precision will be put to the test by this tight design that is always in good shape. The par 3, water drag 11th is always a highlight.
Wedgewood Golf Club in Coopersburg
Website: www.wedge.distinctgolf.com
It is worth noting: A solid 27-hole golf course (Pine and Maple nines are favorites) with a few par 4s accessible off the tee. Beautiful everywhere.
A final note: Playing golf is expensive. One way you can help is by purchasing a discount book that offers deals and discounts on most of the courses listed here and throughout the tri-state area. Get the annual Victory Golf book, published by Germantown Academy graduate Andy Barbin; It pays for itself after a few rounds (www.victorygolfpass.com).
