Fellow NFL player Isaac Rochell is proving that men can be homemakers, too, after Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s divisive commencement speech.
Rochell, who is currently a free agent, posted a video of his daily life on May 16 in which he documents himself taking care of his young daughter while completing a series of household chores before his wife Allison Kuch returned from her Pilates class. .
In the video, titled “In My Housewife Era,” Rochell says, “Allie and I swapped roles for a day,” to which his wife responds, “we don’t have roles, we’re equal partners.”
A day earlier, Kuch also posted her own TikTok in which she directly denounced Butker’s remarks about women who only stayed at home and took care of their children instead of having their own careers.
“Over the last seven years, I have worked hard, not only to pursue my dreams and be successful, but also to make a name for myself and not just be someone’s wife,” she said.

He ended the video by criticizing Butker’s housewife comments, saying: “Can you imagine sitting at your college graduation after working hard for four years and having someone tell you that none of that really mattered? Because the best thing will be to be a housewife?”
Butker’s May 11 commencement speech denounced several “diabolical lies told to women” on issues such as abortion, the LGBTQ+ community, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and surrogacy, in addition to directly criticizing President Joe Biden.
He began his speech by mentioning the COVID-19 pandemic and acknowledging that the graduating class of 2024 entered class when it began, saying, “while COVID may have played an important role during their formative years, it is not unique.”
As he continued, he also took aim at “bad policies and poor leadership” which he said “have negatively impacted important life issues.” Butker said that “things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as growing support for degenerative cultural values in the media, arise from the pervasiveness of disorder.”
During the 20-minute speech, Butker quoted a lyric written by Taylor Swift, referring to her through her boyfriend Travis Kelce calling her his “teammate girlfriend.”
“As my teammate’s girlfriend says, ‘Familiarity breeds contempt,'” Butker said. Swift, 34, sings the line from her song “Bejeweled” on her 2022 album, Midnights.
Isaac Rochell and his wife Allison are the latest in a continuing series of public figures and organizations to publicly condemn Butker’s speech; His comment follows similar sentiments from Maria Shriver, the NFL and former Kansas City commissioner Justice Horn, and the nuns at Benedictine College, where the graduation was held.
