NASCAR and Nashville Superspeedway officials decided to spray resin in the corners before the race weekend. They were then able to use the tire dredge, a device used to wear down the resin and make it more suitable for racing after the substance is applied.
With the concrete surface, the addition of resin helps maintain grip on the track. Drivers will not slip or slide as much as they would if it had not been applied. On the other hand, today there were two Truck Series drivers who crashed into the wall when exiting the corners during qualifying.
The track has been slightly altered. That resin probably isn’t a big factor, but it’s something NASAR likes to apply just to make sure the race is neat. Fans may or may not notice it, but it’s nothing out of the ordinary.
FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass shared the news.
Resin was sprayed on the corners here in Nashville earlier this week and a tire dragon was used.

Nashville Superspeedway is once again hosting a full weekend of NASCAR racing. Truck Series, Xfinity and Cup Series races. Fans will not be disappointed with the action in Music City. It seems like this track and this fan base put on a great show most of the time.
If we think of Bristol, where a substance was applied to a track, we see how severe the changes can be. This weekend it will be hot and the track will be slippery. With the added resin, we should see competitive and fun racing.
Nashville Superspeedway welcomes back Clint Bowyer
An exciting story at Nashville Superspeedway this weekend is the fact that Clint Bowyer is returning to racing. Bowyer is set to pilot the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevy. He was solid in qualifying and just missed the top 10 in P11.
While Bowyer has been away from NASCAR racing, he has kept his skills as sharp as possible. A little running here and there. But this will test him. Bowyer is a talented driver who had a successful Cup career. Returning to competition will not be easy.
So what else is going on in Nashville? Well, the Xfinity and Cup Series are set to hit the track on Saturday and Sunday. It’s still June, but that means we’re halfway through the NASCAR season. Drivers need to start making moves and getting good results if they feel like they’re behind the ball.
Nashville Superspeedway is set to host a full weekend of NASCAR. There’s a great atmosphere, great fans and there are great drivers that come to the track. What are you most excited about this weekend?
