NEW YORK – Luis Gil struck out 14 to set a franchise record for a rookie, while Juan Soto had his first multi-homer game of the season in the Yankees’ 6-1 rout of the Chicago White Sox on Saturday .
Giancarlo Stanton and José Treviño also hit deep for New York, which won 12 of 14 and improved to 32-15, best in the American League. Soto was 4-for-4 with a walk and is hitting .317 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs.
New York is 12-2-1 in series, tying 2002 for the only times since 1950 that the Yankees won 12 of their first 15 series.
Soto tied the score in the first with a 417-foot drive into the right field stands, hit an RBI single in the second and hit another solo home run in the fifth with a 437-foot drive that went even further into right field. . bleachers. It was the 18th multi-homer game for Soto, who combined with Stanton and Aaron Judge to make New York the first team this year with a trio of double-digit home runs.

“It was a fun day,” said Soto, who bounced back after a 3-for-25 slide on a six-game road trip.
Gil (5-1) won his fourth straight start and fifth straight decision, allowing 1 run, 5 hits and 1 walk in six innings. The right-hander has allowed just two runs in 24⅓ innings in his last four starts.
“I have a great teacher in Gerrit Cole,” Gil said through a translator from his Cy Young Award-winning teammate. “He is always around and always gives me advice.”
Gil, 25, surpassed the previous Yankees rookie record of 13 strikeouts, which was set on August 13, 1998 by Orlando Hernandez, who threw out Saturday’s ceremonial first pitch.
“I was very happy to meet him after the game,” Gil said. “For him to be here and connect after the game is great.”
After struggling through a 29-pitch first inning that included 13 swings, Gil struck out seven in a row starting in the fourth in a stretch that ended with a single by Eloy Jiménez.
Brad Keller (0-2) allowed a career-high four home runs. In his second start this season, he allowed six runs, five earned, and seven hits in four-plus innings. Chicago batters struck out 16 times and the White Sox fell to 4-18 on the road and 14-32 overall, the worst in the majors.
Andrew Benintendi’s opposite-field RBI double to left field put Chicago ahead in the first, but Gil left the bases loaded when Korey Lee took a fastball for a called third strike.
Soto tied the score, Judge reached with an infield hit when third baseman Danny Mendick made a double grab before his pitch, and Stanton hit an opposite-field RBI double against the right-center wall for a 2-1 lead.
Stanton hit a home run to right-center field in the fourth, his 11th of the season and fifth in nine games.
