Kevin Harvick and the Harvick’s Happy Hour team are setting their predictions for the USA Today 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
First, Harvick decided to get a little sentimental about his choice, predicting Martin Truex Jr. repeat at Loudon after the driver of the No. 19 announced he will retire at the end of 2024 NASCAR Cup Series campaign.
“I think there are topics where people know they want to put on a show and you prepare for it. With his recent retirement, I mean, we can all go for Truex. Can. I mean, the guy… it’s the sentimental choice. How could we go against Martin Truex Jr. for New Hampshire, right? “If you’re going to win, what better way to win for Martin Truex, in his senior year, to go to New Hampshire and win the damn race,” Harvick explained. “He will be very motivated. The pressure is going to be taken off, because he finally made the decision, he announced it, it’s over.
“Yes, he will have to answer some questions in the press center, but from here on out everything will be carefree for Truex, because he doesn’t have to worry about that anymore. So what better way to do it. He has the cars to do it. He has the equipment to do it. He has the talent to do it. I think he goes up and makes it happen.”
Harvick’s co-host Kaitlyn Vincie agreed and also picked Truex Jr. for the win: “That was my pick too, so I’m going to take advantage of that,” she proclaimed.
While Harvick’s other co-host in Mamba Smith was originally going to work with Truex Jr. as well, he opted to go elsewhere when the rest of the panel chose number 19, choosing jose berry and the No. 4 team to obtain the victory.
“Okay, I was going to pick him, but since we know how bad my picks have been this year, I don’t want to blame him at all, and I think Josh Berry at No. 4, in Places where there is a lot of time without acceleration, the short tracks “I think coming from Iowa, where it was very strong, they have momentum,” Smith explained. “In a place like this, I think Josh Berry could be the choice.”
After an incredible career at Iowa, Harvick is a fan of the pick, as Berry has been putting together some strong picks at Harvick’s old No. 4, with his former crew chief in Rodney Childers.
“I like that choice,” Harvick responded. “Those guys are very motivated. Obviously, I still have good communication with Rodney, and seeing everything they’ve been through, and what they’re going through and what they’re going to have to go through for the rest of the year, they’re both looking to figure out where they are. “Let’s go, I think they’re both very motivated and I think he had a chance to win at Iowa if he doesn’t crash under caution.”
Unfortunately, no one knows who will emerge victorious in New Hampshire, but it should be an entertaining race regardless, with a lot riding on the NASCAR Cup Series.
