Syracuse, NY – The 2024 All-Central New York men’s golf team features nine stars chosen by syracuse.com reporters.
We have four finalists for men’s golfer of the year. These are Mitchell Archer, Jamesville-DeWitt; Jackson Saroney, Jamesville-DeWitt; Will Chouinard, Hamilton and Chris Stilwell, Whitesboro.
The winner will be announced at syracuse.com’s annual All-CNY Sports Awards at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 20, at Syracuse University’s Goldstein Auditorium.
Here are the All-CNY 2024 men’s golf stars:
Mitchell Archer, Jamesville Dewitt.

What’s next for you? I will attend Gettysburg College (mostly undecided) where I will play golf.
Who inspires you? I would have to choose Tiger Woods because his dominance on the PGA Tour in his prime is something I have always admired and pushes me to work harder.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? Our Hamilton team was finally able to win a sectional title after starting the golf program four years earlier. That was my favorite moment because it showed that our hard work as a team throughout high school finally paid off.
If you could have any celebrity as a teammate, who would it be? Michael Jordan because he could tell many wonderful stories and he is a very good golfer.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? It has to be “Suits” because there is constant drama and the story keeps getting better season after season.
Tommy Goodelle, New Hartford.
Name: Thomas Goodelle
School: New Hartford
Class: Eighth grade
What’s next for you? Playing summer tournaments.
Who inspires you? My dad because he pushes me to the limit to make me better.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? I made the Section III state golf team when I was in seventh grade because I saw my hard work pay off.
If you could have any celebrity as a teammate, who would it be? Adam Sandler because he’s hilarious.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? “Stepbrothers” with a bowl of popcorn and a Coca-Cola because I will laugh.

Class: Senior
What’s next for you? Attend Utica University to play golf.
Who inspires you? My dad because he has helped and inspired me in all of this.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? Winning my first tournament at Cortland Country Club because it was a great experience.
If you could have any celebrity as a teammate, who would it be? I would say Scottie Scheffler because he seems calm and can help me with my golf game.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? I liked “Stranger Things” because it was interesting.
Jackson Saroney, Jamesville-DeWitt.
Name: Jackson Saroney
School: Jamesville-DeWitt
Class: Junior
What’s next for you? I continue to improve and practice to be the best I can be.
Who inspires you? It inspires me to improve and compete because that’s what I love to do.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? Van travels with the team because we were always laughing and joking.
If you could have any celebrity as a teammate, who would it be? Justin Thomas because he would push me to improve.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? “The Sopranos” because it is the best show of all time.

What’s next for you? Football in the fall and basketball in the winter.
Who inspires you? Me, because I enjoy playing golf.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? Playing with my teammates from the Cooperstown golf team.
If you could have any celebrity as a teammate, who would it be? Twenty-one. I love watching his movies.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? “The office.” I watch it a lot and it’s fun.
Chris Stilwell, Whitesboro.
Name: Chris Stilwell
School: white
Class: Senior
What’s next for you? Attending the University of the Assumption.
Who inspires you? My dad. He has always helped me since I was very young. All my work and success is for him.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? Going to the United States with my brother during my senior year.
If you could have any celebrity as a teammate, who would it be? Probably Kevin Hart just because he would keep the team together because he’s so funny and joked about everything.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? “Manifesto.” I like the suspense it brought and how it always made you wonder what’s next.

What’s next for you? Many tournaments in the summer and football in the fall.
Who inspires you? My brother because he pushes me to improve.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? I jI just enjoyed spending time with the kids. Most of my friends play golf, so we have very good memories.
If you could have any celebrity as a teammate, who would it be? Lebron James because he is the GOAT.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? ““Shark tank.”

What’s next for you? Summer tournaments and school golf in the fall.
Who inspires you? To my parents and close friends because they always push me to work harder.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? Winning sectionals with my team in seventh grade because of the fun my teammates and I had that season.
If you could have any celebrity as a teammate, who would it be? Jordan Spieth for his short game.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? “Suits” because I can watch it wherever I want on my phone.
Coach of the year
Paul Valentino, Jamesville-DeWitt men’s golf coach.
Name: Pablo Valentino
School: Jamesville-DeWitt
Years as a coach: 14
Who inspires you to train in your sport? My father, because he introduced me to golf and it is a bond that we share that is special.
What is your favorite sports memory from your career? My favorite memory is when our team won its first sectional championship. Seeing the children celebrate their achievements individually and as a team for the first time was really special.
If you could have any celebrity player, who would it be? Probably Chris McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin on “Happy Gilmore,” is a friend of mine and is an absolute riot to hang out with.
What is your guilty pleasure movie/TV show? “Caddyshack. Favorite comedy of all time and it’s about golf.
