The great drought for Rory McIlroy continues.
He had a chance to win the US Open, but after making bogey on the last hole, Bryson DeChambeau escaped from the 18th hole with a par (hitting his third shot from the bunker just a few feet from the hole) to win the tournament with 6 under par.
McIlroy and DeChambeau battled back and forth during the final day of the tournament at Pinehurst No. 2.
McIlroy hasn’t won a major in 10 years, since winning both the PGA Championship and the British Open in 2014.
The victory gave DeChambeau the second major title of his career.

“When I finally win the next major, it will be very, very nice,” McIlroy said after last year’s US Open. “I would spend 100 Sundays like this to get another major championship.”
While McIlroy is one of the biggest names in the sport, his personal life has generated some of the biggest headlines recently.
The first was Erica Stoll’s divorce in May and then the news that the golf superstar had filed a voluntary dismissal notice in the case.
At the time of filing, the marriage was described as “irretrievably broken.”
However, earlier this week, McIlroy said the couple had “resolved our differences.”

“Over the past few weeks, Erica and I realized that our best future was to be a family together,” he said.
The couple has been married for seven years and share a 3-year-old daughter, Poppy.
