One of the biggest stories of the upcoming NFL season is whether the Bengals will return to the elite level of the AFC. Fans loved the growing rivalry between Cincinnati and Kansas City. With joe burrow Limping or out for most of the fall, there was no third straight conference title game between the two teams.
But Burrow’s wrist and calf are healed. So watch out bosses, the Bengals are coming for your kingdom. At least one NFL expert projects Kansas City and Cincinnati to finish as the AFC’s top two teams.
NFL Network analytics expert Cynthia Frelund predicts 10.5 wins for the Bengals and the AFC North Division championship. The “Who Dey” crowd will be mostly happy for 2024. In fact, Frelund predicted the win total for all 32 teams. She based her formula on a mix of statistics, history and trends. They are all cold and unemotional numbers.
Frelund worked hard on his predictions. He explained how he created the formula for his projections. “Using the projected 53-man rosters as of May 14, I ran 150,000 simulations for the 272 regular season games,” he wrote.
He also noted, “remember, these simulations take into account many contextualized data points that have been shown to correlate with wins and losses based on historical football matches that were actually played.”

Cincinnati Bengals Odds and Predictions for 2024
- Total earnings: more than 10.5 (-140)
- Make Qualifiers: -210
- Division won: +170
- Win conference: +700
- Win the Super Bowl: +1300
Frelund wrote about the Bengals:
“Worst-to-first debates are a big offseason topic, and in that spirit, no team is more likely to accomplish the feat this season than the Bengals in the AFC North. I project the Bengals will have at least a 55 percent chance of winning in four of their first six games, and a good start could go a long way in this hotly contested division.
“One of the reasons Cincinnati has such a positive outlook is the improvements they made early on, specifically in the additions of Trent Brown (free agency) and Amarius Mims (18th overall Draft pick). In fact, the Bengals’ O-line winning percentage is projected to be the highest in Joe Burrow’s career to date.”
The Bengals lost their offensive coordinator. Brian Callahan moved from Cincinnati to Tennessee to take over as head coach of the Titans. Bengals coach Zac Taylor won’t need to change anything since Cincinnati promoted quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher to OC.
There will be a change in the corridor. zack moss, formerly of the Colts, is now in Cincy. Cincinnati still has Ja’Marr Chase as its main recipient. However, tee higgins did not participate in OTA because he hopes for a longer-term contract or a trade. That’s because the team used the franchise tag on him.
His biggest addition on defense was tackle. Sheldon Rankins, formerly of the Texans. Additionally, Cincinnati drafted two coaches, including the one from Michigan. Chris Jenkins in the second round.
Overall, Frelund and his formula predicted the Chiefs, two-time defending Super Bowl champions, will win 10.9 games. Next, he projects the Texans to be third behind the Bengals with 10.3 wins.
Their formula believes there will be a tie for fourth place between the Dolphins and Ravens at 10.2 wins a piece. The Bills are sixth with 10 wins, followed by the Jets with 9.6. Those are your seven playoff teams.
