CONCORD, NC (CHARLOTTE SPROTS LIVE) — After another weekend of NASCAR racing, the Technique Chassis team is back to work at their Concord shop. The team, made up of both men and machines, works in the heart of racing country on every minute detail to build the most important part of any motor vehicle.
“Although we use robotic welding, one of the advantages of having a robot instead of a person is that the robot doesn’t care, the human does,” said Ronnie Johncox, owner of Technique Chassis. “To deliver the highest level of workmanship, it is absolutely necessary to have the skilled technicians we have here at Technique Chassis.”

Although Technique Chassis is not a race team, it is arguably guaranteed to win every Cup Series race. When NASCAR debuted the Next Gen Car, Johncox and his company won the bid to build the chassis for every one of them.
“We’re very proud of what we do,” Johncox said. “We have some of the best manufacturers and builders in the sport. “We win every week, that makes it nice.”
For the former IndyCar driver, the most important thing is to be able to contribute to motorsport.
“As a competitor, I obviously love racing and driving the cars,” Johncox said. “I’m very proud to be able to give back to the sport in a different way through my manufacturing knowledge and experience, something I wouldn’t be able to do as a solo driver.”
The Next Gen Car is now in its third season of existence and has completely changed Cup Series racing as we knew it. The main job of the Technique Chassis team is to be as precise as possible when assisting each race team.

“We want all teams to have an equal opportunity to compete and win,” Johncox said. “We work very hard with NASCAR to get these parts to the closest tolerances possible so there is no advantage between one part and another.”
Design is just one of the key components that has made Technique Chassis an integral part of a sport that continues to move into the future.
“To have a successful car you have to have great design, you have to use great materials and you have to have great manufacturing,” Johncox said. “We are just one of the three pieces of that tripod.”
