Travis Kelce opens up about why he fell in love with Taylor Swift.
During his appearance Monday on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs player didn’t hesitate to gush about his superstar girlfriend while reminiscing about the early days of their whirlwind romance. He praised her for being “very self-aware” and shared that her frequent presence at NFL Games allowed him to see the more realistic side of her.
“I think that’s why I really started to fall in love with her, because of how genuine she is with friends and family,” he said. “She can go crazy for someone with that much attention and she just stays so calm and so collected.”

The pair have been romantically linked since September 2023, after the athlete said he tried (but failed) to give her a friendship bracelet with his number at her Kansas City concert. Swift later accepted his invitation to attend a Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium and soon became a staple among the crowd.
“The first game he went to, against the Bears, I thought, ‘Okay, I could probably set you up,'” Kelce recalled. “And she just walked through the front door. There’s no way to get down or talk.” to security. She said, ‘I just want to be around my family and friends and experience this with everyone.'”

He continued: “He got a lot of points for that. I thought, ‘Damn, she’s crazy. She wants to support me and do things like that.’ She really conquered me with that phrase.”
On the other hand, Kelce has frequently attended Swift’s Eras Tour performances and is often seen singing from the VIP tent, alongside a star-studded roster of A-list Swifties.

“Dude, concerts are electric,” said Kelce, who recently made his Eras Tour debut when he joined Swift on stage at London’s Wembley Stadium. “She’s having fun up there, so I can enjoy her watching her in her element, having fun on stage. I love the show, man. She has hits.”
Later in the conversation, Kelce joined podcast hosts Will Compton and Taylor Lewan for a ranking of their top three songs in Swift’s discography. “I really started listening to Taylor’s music when she released 1989,” Kelce explained. “I knew who she was before that. We were the same age, so through high school and all I knew I knew who Taylor was when it was like getting her career started, but I think 1989 was when it really started to go crazy.” .
For that reason, Kelce put “Blank Space” at number one, followed by his Eras Tour opener, “Cruel Summer.” Third, she chose “So High School,” a song from the Grammy winner’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, that alludes to her romance.
“It has a bit of a sentimental meaning,” he admitted, before quoting the lyrics, “‘You know how to play, I know Aristotle.'”
As for Kelce’s thoughts on maintaining privacy amid their lives in the public eye, the NFL star made it clear that he prefers to strike a balance.
“You want to keep things private, but at the same time, I’m not here to hide anything, you know? That’s my girl. That’s my lady,” he said, “I’m proud of that. I’m not sitting here trying to juggle : ‘How am I going to keep this a secret?’ “You just don’t want to let everyone into your personal life and comment on it, knowing that everything she does is making headlines.”
You can hear Kelce talk about his relationship with Swift in the podcast episode above.
